ZHdK Strings

The ZHdK strings is a small string orchestra, consisting of 15 Students from Konzert- and Soloist classes from the ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste). Rehearsals and concerts are carried out in the regular education project during the school semester and credited to the students with education points as "Wahlfach". Leader and organizer of the orchestra is Rudolf Koelman, violinprofessor at the ZHdK. The ZHdK strings have already performed a large chamber orchestra repertoire. Targets are: To perform as much as possible in changing formations during the season. Some of the members are chosen to perform as soloists during the concerts. This way the young musicians can collect a lot of professional experience for their future professional life. The 3rd succesfull tour from the 21th until the 29th of Juli 2008 brought the orchestra again into the heart of Tuscany Italy. We performed on open air stages, in churches, castels and concert halls. From 2009 until 2011 the ZHdK-Strings will perform frequently as «orchestra in residence» in the concert series of the "Frauenfelder Abendmusiken".
